New Guy

I've started working on a new story why do I do this to myself why
I've wanted to write a 'slice of life' kind of manga, different to where my imagination usually takes me (for example non-human things with wings and telekinesis and seriously outlandish things) So I guess I basically wanted something that was fictional but not completely unbelievable. Something that could happen but is at the same time interesting and compelling and maybe just that bit quirky too. Personally I've found that the majority of my favourite characters from anime or manga or books, even other mediums, are characters from stories that have that aspect of a normal world and everyday people in interesting circumstances. For example, a number of Studio Ghibli which are very close to me have this essence about them, like From Up on Poppy Hill, Whisper of the Heart, The Wind Rises. And series like Ouran High School Host Club, K-On, Free! and Kuroko no Basket and others, I just find that because they take place in a familiar setting, the focus is on the characters. Many of them are even relatable, on many levels, an maybe that's one of the main reasons why I get attached to these characters like they're my own. I'm not saying that the storylines or plots are uninteresting, in fact even if you have the most compelling characters on earth, if nothing is happening then the story falls flat on its proverbial face. You need both characters who people will enjoy following and a story that will keep then following.

So with this new story, that's what I want to accomplish. Whether it becomes reality is another story (no pun intended) (that was a bare-faced lie) Oh right the drawing is of one of the main characters who is still on the 'I have no hair colour list'. His name is Sataro, he's about 15-16 years old, annoying to write for because he flirts like it's the way he breathes and I'm not exactly what you call flirtatious which makes it hard. I'm also to lazy to write a proper profile and this is already too long. More of Sataro and the other new guys to come (the ones with hair colours) so keep an eye out for them.
